Baghdad

Another "either–or" question. Anyone who knows anything about ancient history, or the geography of the Middle East, will know that it's either going to be the Tigris or the Euphrates.

Baghdad is actually on the south-west bank of the Tigris, but the Euphrates passes within 25 miles of it. This is at the point where the two rivers are closest together, before they separate slightly and eventually meet.
